“Redefining the Future”

2023-2024

Greetings East Varnett Family,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. I hope you had a safe and restful summer and a chance to spend quality fun time with your family. I am so excited about all this school year has to offer and look forward to meeting you and working with your children as we focus on continuous improvements  in teaching and learning.

This year we will renew our commitment to excellence in all we do, with the expectation that all students can learn and exceed as we redefine our future at Varnett-East Campus. We welcome staff, students, and parents as we continue to focus on making our vision and mission the core of our daily work.  Our claim is to create a culture of excellence as we redefine our future, build understanding, and hold each other accountable, as we work together to ensure every student will achieve success.

Excellent attendance is the first to helping our children become successful learners. It is very important that all children are present and on time every day. Instruction begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:50 pm. School doors will open at 7:30 am for breakfast. The breakfast line closes promptly at 7:50 am. Please plan to have your children report to school no later than 7:30 am to receive a nutritious breakfast. School ends at 3:50 pm, please pick up your child(s) timely. Call the school if you will be running late to avoid  a call to CPS for child abandonment.

In the best interest of our children, the Parent Liaison will adhere to the Schools’ attendance policy and create a chronic absence list. She will  make daily phones calls, when your child(s) is absent from school. For excused absences please submit a doctor’s note after your child returns to school.

The Varnett Schools’ Policy and our Attendance Policy goals will be reviewed at the Annual Title 1 meeting and Open House. Aim for perfect attendance, so we can celebrate your child(s) during our monthly award ceremonies.

Parents, we know you want the best for your child(s). We are on the same team and together we will make this year the best educational experience possible for academic  growth and high student achievement!

Sincerely, Ms. Gayle Voltz

East Campus Director
