  Shortly before school ended for the year, East Campus third through fifth graders elected student body officers for 2016-17. They are Cristopher Carballo, president; Ashley Hernandez, vice president and Manaiha Richardson, secretary. They wasted no time meeting with Varnett Public School Superintendent Margaret Stroud and telling her what they would like from Varnett as they enter the fifth grade.   Mr. Bruce Rhone, the East Campus math and science instructional coach, conducts science experiment for students on the eve of STAAR testing. Mr. Rhone mixed 20 peroxide, dishwashing detergent and yeast to produce a chemical reaction. "You will see this on your STAAR test," Mr. Rhone said. "That's why we are doing this today." Members of KBXX 97.9 The Box radio station were on hand to help lead students in a "STAAR Wars" pep rally. "May the Scores be With You!"
