Cinco de Mayo carnival hosts full house from beginning to end

The Cinco de Mayo carnival on Saturday, May 5, started off with a bang, despite the rain clouds hovering over the school.

Students in all grade levels entertained the audience and we had various games set up around the school. Instead of a haunted house, we had Coco's House from the Disney movie, "Coco."  It was a big hit and we showed the movie at the end of the carnival. The Varnett School East campus had a full house from beginning to end.

I would like to thank one of our parents, Ms. Yolanda Zepeda, who put together a carnival plan and helped teach our students the various dances performed at the carnival.

We also had great food, such as chicken-beef-pork tacos, tortas, sodas, snow cones, Mexican candies, fruity popsicles and nachos.

My carnival team, Mrs. Leidy Martinez, Mrs.Margarita  Estrada, Ms. Maria Restrepo, Ms. Amanda Garcia, Coach Shannon Payne, Coach Jean Deleon, Mr. Arthur Thomas and Ms. Amy Jones took the plan and created a "Cinco de Mayo" program and carnival that the students and parents truly enjoyed. I would like to thank my staff for their support.

Once the rain stopped, Ms. Zepeda was able to put up a donated moonwalk for the children to enjoy.

Thank you, parents, for supporting our carnival fundraiser.  You are the reason we are able to provide an academic program that promotes excellence at the East campus!

Food: chicken-beef-pork tacos, tortas, sodas, snow cones, water, Mexican candies, fruity popsicles, water, and nachos.
