East Campus had a little competitive fun with a Christmas tree contest focused on sports teams. The categories were:
- Pre-k and kindergarten
- Grades 1-2
- Grades 3-5
The trees were judged by visual impact (best overall), craftsmanship (building the tree), originality (most creative) and theme (communicates a clear theme the classroom had selected)
The judges were Mrs. Cheyne Brown, Southwest Pre-k director; Ms. Jacklin Booker, Varnett's data analyst and Mr. Peter McConnell, Varnett's communication director.
Winners from top to bottom:
- Grades 3-5 - Ms. Jennifer Pierre, fourth grade, Houston Astros, baseball
- Prek-kindergarten - Ms. Katrina Craft, kindergarten, Houston Rockets, basketball
- Grades 1-2 - Ms. Sayda Pastor-Castillo, first grade, Houston Dynamo, soccer
