Young students meet the challenge of a Science Fair

The recent Science Fair involving kindergartners and first grade students was a success! We are very proud of our students and parents. We wanted to get the students and parents familiar with a scientific project and the Scientific Method. We achieved our goal.

The steps of the Scientific Method are to ask a question, construct a hypothesis, test the hypothesis by doing an experiment, draw a conclusion based on the analyzes of data and to communicate the results.

Each child could pick his or her own project and the work was done at home.  About 75 students participated in the six-week assignment.

The students all received an award for their participation and medals were given out to kindergarten and first graders, signifying 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The overall winner of the Science Fair was Alvaro Benavides from Mrs. Pastor 1st grade class. He demonstrated how best to clean pennies.

Congratulations to those who participated. The Scientific Method is a learning experience for students and adults. This something the students can use during their lifetime.
