5th grade promotion ceremony at East Campus

The fifth grade students strode down the “red carpet” to the re-mix of “Pomp and Circumstance.” There were 19 students at our promotion ceremony, the largest class ever for East Campus. Jonathan Renteria and Andrea Sanchez, 4th grade master and mistress of ceremony, did a great job presenting the program.

The fifth graders performed a musical skit of “My Favorite Things” from the “Sound of Music.” The valedictorian, Maria Pizano and the salutatorian, Hector Hernandez, made a touching tribute to the teachers and staff. The students presented flowers to parents, teachers and staff that produced many tears from the recipients.

The students performed so well on the STAAR exams that all students received one or more trophies for their endeavors. The fifth graders received their diploma from Varnett’s superintendent, Dr. Margaret Stroud, as they walked across the stage.

The “So Long, Farewell” song performed by the third and fourth graders was the icing on the cake. The entire program was fabulous, well performed and showed the wisdom and talents of our fifth grade promotion class. The fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Davis, was ecstatic over the performance of her class.
