Our family connection night was a huge success. We had more than 150 parents and family members spend the evening meeting teachers and staff. The teachers shared information about the upcoming class field trips and parents signed up to be chaperones. There were demonstrations of Promethean board resources and grade level expectations. Parents also registered for parent/teacher conferences next month.
I started off the event with the ringing of our school bell. The students and parents know that’s how we start and end the school day. We had such a grand time. There were parents still here after the family fun time had ended.
Refreshments were served in the East campus café. Our guests enjoyed hot dogs, chips and a drink. To top that off, next it was game time in the multipurpose room. That was a blast. Everyone had an opportunity to play board games, twister and listen to the latest jams on the boom box.
We had 25 parents register for the PTO club. Ms. Rubio and Mrs. Davis-Mack, our PTO president and vice-president, respectively, were very excited and are working on scheduling our first PTO meeting very soon.
Dr. Margaret Stroud, the district's interim superintendent, chatted with teachers, staff and students during the event.
Thank you so much for making our family connection a time to focus on building positive relationships among parents, students and staff. Thanks for coming out to support us and I hope to see you at our Coordinator’s Parent Workshop, October 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
