For the past four years we have been working with the Outreach to the House of Hope shelter for men.
The shelter was founded by Glory Udoh of the Asset Building Network and works to help rehabilitate downtrodden men and place them back into society. This year we donated pots and pans, twin sheet sets and towel sets.
Mrs. Udoh said the men are still benefiting from the white socks we donated last year. She said the shelter has expanded and added many more beds. The shelter needed more pots and pans for cooking healthy meals.
Our fourth graders are learning to help those who have fallen on hard times and have been given a second chance to make it right. They are learning to make positive decisions for the first time.
Mrs. Udoh and the shelter occupants were very thankful for the 4th graders' generosity. The Varnett East Campus looks forward to working with the agency next year.
