Ms. Joseph’s second-grade students learned a valuable lesson on how to grow and care for plants, with many getting mixed results.
The six-week science project called for students to plant seeds on the East Campus school grounds, provide water and expose the plants to sunlight. Each student was given a Styrofoam cup, one cup of soil and plant seeds to begin their project.
After six weeks, one student acknowledged that she prematurely pulled the plant out of the ground -- and it showed. While some plants emerged as large and healthy, others did not get the water and sunlight they needed to prosper.
“They learned a valuable lesson that plants do well with the proper nurturing" Ms. Voltz said.
