Students get fired up for key tests this week

Nearly 400 students gathered into the multi-purpose room and held a rally to get fired up for important tests this week.

East Campus Director Gayle Voltz led the charge with chants of “Rock the Test” and “Beat the Test” as students, 17 teachers and 10 staff chanted along.

Third, fourth and fifth graders districtwide are taking the new State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test while kindergarten through 2nd graders will take on the Stanford test. STAAR, which replaces the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills test, assesses students’ performance in math, reading and science.

Students dance, chanted and released lot of energy in a show of a commitment to excellence and a sign of solidarity. They knew that when the fun was over, it would be back to business.
