Students get brush-up on dental hygiene

Brush your teeth three times a day, visit your dentist twice a year and don't forget to floss.

Those were the lessons given to dozens of students by Gloria Montano and Alma Gutierrez of the Summit Dental Center.

Ms. Montano, the center's marketing director, used props to show the right way to brush and floss. She said students should brush their tongues as well because they contain about 60 percent of the food-generated bacteria.

During  her presentation, Ms. Montano called on volunteers to demonstrate what they learned. Each volunteer earned applause for a job well done.

Ms. Montano and Ms. Gutierrez, the center's health care coordinator,  handed out dental kits to teachers to pass on to the students.
