I want to personally thank you for sharing with us the joys of educating your child(ren). Your involvement at this campus has resulted in two successes I am proud to share with you, the Board of Directors and our school community.
Firstly, the number of parents attending our Rodeo field trip this year set a new record at this campus. Your enthusiastic response to chaperone ensured the safety and greatly enhanced the educational experience shared by every one of our students. Varnett’s requirement to have one parent for every two children far exceeded our expectation. In fact, the East Campus had 191 adults accompanying 291 students. This strong turnout reflects your outstanding participation and involvement in the school activities at this campus.
Secondly, Varnett recently equipped this campus with an all-encompassing, multi-media technology for 3rd-5th grade classrooms. As a result of your fund-raising efforts, we were able to install Promethean ActiveClassroom boards in each classroom. This board replaces the dated chalk boards and overhead projector and will encourage increased student participation and collaboration. Each board is equipped with a touch screen display and an attached projector used to output video and display images. The versatile “ActiveBoard� works with a personal computer and will be used to implement the curriculum for each grade level. Students will receive wireless, hand-held devices that will allow them to express themselves instantly and in an individual voice. Teachers, meanwhile, will track and immediately assess their students’ progress.
Installation of this technological advancement is the result of your efforts to ensure that your children receive an exemplary education utilizing 21st Century technology. We invite you to a 3rd-5th classroom to inspect the Promethean ActiveClassroom board system. Our campus goal for the 2010-2011 school year is to install Promethean ActiveClassroom boards in each of the PK3-2nd grade classrooms.
