Grandparents bond with grandchildren over campus breakfast

Grandparents presented a strong showing for a special breakfast Friday, two days before they celebrate the official Grandparents Day.

Forty-five grandparents representing 82 students came to East campus in a show of family bonding, which can be the key to any kind of educational enterprise.

"We wanted to extend the family by including the grandparents because they play an important role in the development of the younger ones," said Ms. Gayle Voltz, director of The Varnett School East.

Students whose grandparents showed up for the special occasion received a "dress-down" pass for a future date.

Many U.S families observe National Grandparents Day on the first Sunday of September after Labor Day. This day is intended to recognize the contributions grandparents have made to the family unit and the community at large.

The campus breakfast was a perfect way to honor and show respect to grandparents. Thanks to everyone who participated.
