Grandparents Day with a 1920s theme

East Campus celebrated Grandparents Day today in our 1920s themed decorated cafeteria. I was so elated to share a meal with my granddaughter; Madyson who attends East Campus. There was a great turnout with 72 grandparents sharing good times with their grandchildren. One grandparent, who is new to our school, commented this was the best “Grandparents Day" she had ever attended. There was a cool vibe generated in the newly renovated cafeteria.

Ms. Edith Smith, a food service worker, along with the East campus staff, served kolaches, fresh fruit, fruit juice and effervescent water. The parents took a photo with Ms. Leidy Martinez, the parent liaison for East who dressed like a flapper from the 20’s. She made a creative picture frame for the families to take an artsy nouveau picture together.

Overall, it was a great family event for our first family involvement activity.
