We are reminding parents that East, Northeast and Southwest campuses will feature a new sixth-grade Aerospace Academy starting in the 2017-18 school year.
The goal of the "Sixth-Grade Aerospace Academy" is to improve student achievement in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) in the following ways:
- Mentorship opportunities and tutoring for students who are identified as future STEAM majors and seeking careers in high-skilled, high-growth occupations.
- Create a pipeline for a rigorous study that increases student interest in the STEAM areas.
- Ultimately prepare students for rewarding careers in the 21st century economy by improving student achievement outcomes in math and science.
Varnett's mission is to prepare and inspire the next generation of skilled professionals for aviation and aerospace careers while promoting STEAM-based education programs.
